Happenings
June is National Safety Month. Avoid
unintentional injuries or harm in the workplace, community,
streets, and home. Unintentional injuries, both in and out side of the
workplace, have a staggering economic impact estimated at
$625 Billion a years. Take steps toward
improving safety in your home, community, and business this month. This
is an excellent opportunity to reflect upon and improve
safety procedures. Each week during the
month of June focuses on a different aspect of safety.
June 2-6: Emergency Preparedness
June 9-13: Distracted Driving
June 16- 20: Poisoning Prevention
June 23- 27: Falls Prevention
Nancy Duncan will facilitate
ADA ( Americans with Disabilities Act)
training on June 3 at 2:15 p.m. in the Board Room. at CFI.
The Certified Psychiatric
Rehabilitation Practitioner study group is starting up again on
June 5 at 10 a.m. in the Board Room of CFI. The deadline for
applications to take the CPRP exam in October 2009 is fast approaching!

Relapse Prevention Class
continues each Tuesday through June 16 at 1:00 P.M.
Case Record Review
will be held on Tuesday, June 9 from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Anyone on the
review committee for this date must find their own replacement if they
are unable to attend! Those whose charts are being reviewed should come
to the Training Room to correct charts from 3:30 - 4:30 pm.
The campaign for Mental Health Recovery (CMHR)
presents "Learning From Within the Community!" a
Free teleconference, on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 from 3:00 to
4:30 PM EST. In this forum, participants will hear from individuals who
have developed campaigns aimed at reducing discrimination and social
exclusion for people living with mental illness. for access , dial
1-800-779-9977. If prompted for a pass code, say "ADS Center."
The next APS audit
is June 15. Are your charts ready?
CFI will host the
Vocational Rehabilitation meeting on June 16 at 9:30 in the
Training Room.
Annual Board Meeting and
Picnic - Field of Dreams is June 17 from 12:00 - 4:00 at Coan
Park.
The Management Team
will meet on June 18 at 10:30 in the Board Room.

Public Policy meeting Work Tec on June 18.
Colin will lead a training for
Consumer Professionals on Wednesday, June
24 from 2-3:30 pm. The topic is "Advance Directive". This is an optional
training for anyone serving in the dual role of CFI employee and
mental health consumer.
Atlanta Urban League's Community Empowerment
Day is Saturday, June 27 at the Marriott Marquis from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00
p.m. Janet reason was nominated for the Spirit of the League Award and
CFI will have an Exhibit Table at the event. It is free and open to the
public.
Colin will lead a training on
Client Choice on Monday, June 29 from 2:30
- 4pm in the Board Room at CFI.
New Employee Orientation
will be held on Tuesday, June 30 from 9:00 - 1:00 in the Training
Room.
All staff who participated in the Essential
Learning classes are being registered for two more classes on the EL
website. One of these is the longer version of Cultural Competency that
is now available, and the other is training about infection control that
EL developed in response to concerns about the HINI virus (swine flu).
Colin will be resending information about usernames and passwords, and
will be available for as much technical assistance as is needed. Our
target date for completion is June 30.
